# Set up the Sellfy MCP server

You are an AI agent helping a Sellfy seller connect their store. Do the
steps yourself; only the sign-in needs the human. Server URL:

    https://api.sellfy.com/mcp

Streamable HTTP with OAuth sign-in in the browser. There are no API keys
and nothing to register first.

## 1. Add the server

Use the section for the agent you are, not the editor you run in: Codex
inside VS Code follows Codex CLI. If a server named sellfy already
exists, skip to step 2.

**Claude Code**

claude mcp add --transport http sellfy https://api.sellfy.com/mcp

**Codex CLI**

codex mcp add sellfy --url https://api.sellfy.com/mcp

**Cursor**: add this entry to `~/.cursor/mcp.json`, creating the file if
it is missing and keeping any servers already in it:

    { "mcpServers": { "sellfy": { "url": "https://api.sellfy.com/mcp" } } }

**VS Code**

    code --add-mcp '{"name":"sellfy","type":"http","url":"https://api.sellfy.com/mcp"}'

**Gemini CLI**

gemini mcp add --transport http --scope user sellfy https://api.sellfy.com/mcp

**claude.ai, Claude Desktop, ChatGPT or another chat app**: servers cannot
be added from inside a chat. Tell the human where to add it:

- ChatGPT: open chatgpt.com/plugins, click + and Add custom MCP server,
  then Create as a plugin.
- Claude: Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector. In an organization
the owner may have to add it.

With these values:

- Name: Sellfy
- URL: https://api.sellfy.com/mcp
- Authentication: OAuth

Then they sign in to Sellfy when asked and click Allow. In ChatGPT they
pick the Sellfy plugin in the chat (type @); in Claude they enable the
connector in the conversation. Then skip to step 3.

## 2. Hand the sign-in to the human

You cannot approve access yourself. Tell the human what to do:

- Claude Code: run `/mcp`, choose `sellfy`, then Authenticate.
- Codex CLI: run `codex mcp login sellfy`.
- Gemini CLI: run `/mcp auth sellfy`.
- Cursor or VS Code: open the MCP servers list and click Connect or sign
  in next to sellfy.

A browser opens on Sellfy. They log in if needed, check the store name,
and click Allow. Wait for them to confirm before you continue.

## 3. Check the connection

If the sellfy tools are not in your tool list yet, ask the human to
restart or reload this session, then continue. Call `get_store_info`. It
returns the store name and currency when the connection works.

## 4. Report

    Sellfy connected: <store name> (<currency>)

or, when a step failed:

    Sellfy not connected: <step> failed: <exact error>

"Invalid or missing access token" means the sign-in did not finish or
has expired or been revoked: clear the saved sign-in for sellfy and do
step 2 again. "This authorization form is no longer valid" means the
sign-in page sat open too long: start step 2 again. An error naming a
missing permission (`mcp:read` or `mcp:write`) means the connection
lacks it: reconnect requesting that permission and have the seller
approve it.

## Before the first real task

The server sends its own usage instructions on connect; follow them.
Call `get_store_info` first, and remember money amounts are in the
currency's minor units (1999 = 19.99).
